Introduction to Confined Space Rescue

This introductory course provides guidance and outlines procedures for people who required a basic understanding and knowledge of confined space rescues as defined in AS2865.

Co-requisites:
Nil

Pre-entry Requirements:
Students must hold a competency in Confined Space training and Breathing Apparatus training. Language, literacy and numeracy requirements from the unit are:

  • Writing is required to the level of completing written assessments.
  • Numeracy is required to enable the determination of similar activities.
  • Participants are required to have the physicality and flexibility to enter, exit and manoeuvre within confined spaces while performing assigned tasks.

Description:
This introductory course provides guidance and outlines procedures for people who required a basic understanding and knowledge of confined space rescues in the preparations, risk assessments, performing of rescues and concluding rescue operations to a basic level.

Content:

The course content introduces students to procedures and processes in the preparations, risk assessments, performing rescues and concluding rescue operations to a basic level.

Assessment:
Assessment will be conducted through actual demonstration of competency and written testing of underpinning knowledge. Assessment for this unit of competency will be by simulation of work place practices.

Delivery Method:
Training will be delivered utilising theory and practical activities. Delivery will include instructor led presentations / scenarios.
